Meet your activity leader: Mikhail
Hi there! My name is Mikhail, and I was born and raised right here in Saint Petersburg, the cultural capital of the Russian Federation for over 300 years. Way back when, I put myself through university by working as a tour guide for inquisitive tourists from all around the world.
Combining my vast knowledge of the beautiful sights of this so-called Northern Venice with my deeply held love for kayaking and all outdoor pursuits, I take you on an adventure that you'll never forget. Come with us and discover Saint Petersburg as it was really intended to be seen - from the gentle but bracing waters of the River Neva and its surrounding canals and waterways.
What to expect
Take a guided kayaking tour along the majestic rivers and canals of the city, taking in the indescribable beauty of the Church of the Saviour on Blood, Kazan Cathedral and much more. The chance to see the wonderful city of Saint Petersburg from the water is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Come and discover the real reason why Saint Petersburg was dubbed the Northern Venice so soon after its founding.
Until the start of the 20th century, anyone entering the city would more than likely have done so via the major transport routes along the River Neva and its associated waterways. That's why all of Saint Petersburg's magnificent palaces face the water rather than the streets.
By taking a guided kayaking tour along the rivers and canals here, you'll be taken back nearly 100 years to experience a world without polluting motor vehicles and overfilled streets of people jostling for space.
