Meet your activity leader: Svetlana
My name is Svetlana and I am a free-lance professional guide providing tours in Saint-Petersburg and its suburbs. I was born in Leningrad (that's how it was called in Soviet times), so I know my city since my childhood. I work as a professional guide for over 15 years now and consider it the perfect job. I have licenses to guide in all museums and palaces of Saint-Petersburg. I studied Art and History so I would be happy to show you the best museums of my native city as well as local life of present Russia.
What to expect
Enjoy a local life experience. Start your day with a drive to the new residential area, where local citizens really live. We can drive or walk in the neighbourhood. This is the local part of the city. You'll see apartment houses, schools and kindergartens, shopping and sport centers, playgrounds for kids, etc.
Continue your day with the metro tour. You'll see our underground palaces famous for its beautiful decoration. Marble walls, crystal columns, mosaics, chandeliers make the glory of Soviet underground castles.
Visit the food market where farmers sell fruits and vegetables, pickles, cottage cheese, and honey. You can taste and buy.
Visit the famous Elyseev shop – a palace of food. This Art Nouveau building designed as a fancy grocery store is one of the symbols of the Saint-Petersburg merchant life.
Walk down Nevsky Avenue and neighboring streets. Visit Kazan cathedral – the main Russian Orthodox Church with the wonderworking icon.
Finish the tour with a visit to the Singer building which houses a very famous book store. At the end of the tour we'll take you back to the hotel/cruise ship or tp the venue of your choice.
