Meet your activity leader: Ann
Hi! My name is Ann and I'm glad you've decided to visit Moscow! It's my pleasure to show places which can hide from people at first sight. Apart from being a cultural studies student, I am keen on visiting Garage museum and spending time in small cozy cafes in the centre of the city where you can study and relax. By the way, I am a true fan of stylish socks, table tennis and meeting new people from around the world! I hope to see you soon and enjoy Moscow as much I enjoy it!
What to expect
We will travel to our first destination called Saltykovskaya (Салтыковская) via a suburban train to Balashiha. Everything imaginable will be sold there, including clothes, old soviet books and vintage technology, such as old cameras and vinyl records. The tour will include interesting facts which were discovered by me during a sociology project at a university that taught me a lot about inner communities and various problems associated with them. You will be able to purchase one of a kind souvenirs at a very cheap price to remember this trip.
Our next stop will be the Danilovsky market which recently has been renovated into an outstanding food market. It is an amazing location to try a delicious meal, surrounded by a cozy atmosphere. Apart from the history of this place, you will be able to try some of the exotic food there, such as bear ham, cured beaver, pike's caviar and many more. Moreover, there are over 20 modern cafes and restaurants, which will appeal even to picky foodies, so don't miss the chance to try!
During our trip we will visit two remarkable markets, which are filled with different people selling various goods and services. We will be exposed to unique interests, appearance and Russian culture as a whole. In my opinion, these two markets represent diversity and contrast that can coexist in Moscow. Apart from some stereotypical and bizarre representation of my country, you will experience fascinating views and incredible stories, which I would like to share with you!
